Visual Programming

A programming language or environment in which a program is displayed and controlled graphically rather than as text. A common visual metaphor is to represent instructions and control structures as graphical blocks that can be assembled into programs so that you can program without having to deal with text syntax. Examples of visual programming languages: Alice, GameMaker, Kodu, Lego Mindstorms, MIT App Inventor, Scratch (Build Your Own Blocks and Snap).

Remark. A visual programming language should not be confused with programming languages for creating displays or programs with user interfaces, such as Processing or Visual Basic.
